Program Description Become a creative thinker in digital technologies, able to provide solutions requiring a web presence to communicate and/or entertain. Create a seamless interface between the message and the user, applying traditional design methods to emerging technologies. Students learn current mark-up languages such as HTML5 and CSS3 combined with frameworks and libraries, to provide the structure for robust, responsive design regardless of the viewing device. Content management systems (CMS) are also introduced. Our graduates are agile designers, able to adapt to design and technology challenges. NOTE: Students enrolling in this program are required to purchase their own laptop. This program will prepare you for an exciting career in the field of web design. Contemporary web design is the intersection of corporate appearance and technical functionality. You will become a highly competent designer, able to deliver dynamic, cross-media content in a complex and competitive business environment. You will act as the vital bridge between the design of a website and back-end coding including being flexible, creative and able to respond to the design challenges of the ever-changing digital landscape. Graduates possess the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to design and develop web content for all methods of distribution. This includes a focus on skills related to: Marketing and business communications Scripting/Coding User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) Design project workflow Website project management Visual design You will work with the latest web technologies focusing on coding for a responsive environment enabling distribution to all varieties of electronic devices. You will use the Adobe Creative Suite and fundamental markup/coding languages such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery and PHP.
